Reunion BBQ 2010

Once or twice a year, a bunch of us friends from WAAAAAY back (we're talking Jr. High for some of us) get together and play. It usually revolves around when the Ruffs are in town, since they live out in Iowa these days. They're visiting this week, so we got together for a fun day of BBQing, kids playing and even a mini-poker tournament (which I won, thank you very much!). Enjoy the pics...

A few of the Snow College roomies! Meg, Me and Becky...

The girls...Megan, Me, Becky, Angela and Alicia...

The guys....Mark, Mike, Richard, and Aaron (Mario was in Hawaii, the lucky #$^#&%@)

And this is what happens when the girls and the guys get together! Look at all these kids! They are a fun bunch. My favorite part of this pic is Manessa and Nick...she just climbed up on his knee and he was more than happy to pose with her. Smooth....

I noticed this huge, gorgeous full moon while driving back from Eagle Mountain. Good night, all!

Strawberry Days

The kids and I had a great time at Strawberry Days this year! They are big enough now to ride almost anything, so the wristbands are a steal. We spent $50 on two wristbands ($25 each), and they went on $100 worth of rides (in two hours!) when you add up what it would have cost in tickets. Here are the fun pics...

Of course, it all started with the big slide...

Bella really wanted to ride this little ride, but got bored not too long into it.

Here's Nick, looking a little less than comfortable.

The "Rainbow" ride is their absolute favorite ride. They did this over...and over...and over...

...and over. I finally made them go on other rides after two or three times on this ride just so I could avoid any barfing incidents.

This is a fun one, too.

Best buds on the rollercoaster :-)

It was a good day.

Mama was happy because the strawberries and cream were fabulous this year. It was a fun day out with the kiddos, I only wish we could have stayed later. Even though it gets busy, I just love seeing carnival lights at night, and so do the kids.

Logan Hill Price 6/15/10

The newest addition to the family finally arrived early Tuesday morning....welcome Logan Hill Price! Born around 4 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 20 inches long. I think he looks like his daddy (my brother, Jack) with dark hair. He and mom had a rough start, being overdue and not progressing much. Amy had to have a c- section after about 18 hours of slow labor, and some late decels on Logan's part (he wasn't tolerating the contractions very well). Here are some pics of our newest family member :-)

I have to admit, I got all teary when I was showing off this pic to my friends at work...he's such a cute kid, and I love how he is just staring right at Jack when he took this picture! Logan had a harder time breathing on his own, as many c- section babies do. Here he is in his first tent! (I guess they still use this oxygen hood where they delivered.) Sounds like he was under there for a few hours and then was able to go out to see mom at about hour 5.

Here he is, al cleaned up and tired from his first few hours of life. Such a cutie! They knew he'd have lots of hair from the 4D ultrasounds they had, the surprise was what color it would be!

Here he is, getting to meet mommy finally. She got to see him for a couple seconds right after delivery, before he was whisked away. That's so hard on mom, but she had a chance to rest and he got his breathing under control, and all is well...

Here they are, the newest Price crew...Jack, Amy and Logan! We're so excited, and can't wait to visit soon!!!

Orem Summerfest- Bust!

So, we attempted to go to Summerfest this year....yeah, if you were in Utah last week, you know that it was NOT June, but October....apparently someone found a time machine and moved us forward a few months. Whatever. So we got to Orem, walked a couple blocks to the fairgrounds, looked around a little, and were immediately dumped on by some freakish rain. I got one picture while we were taking cover in the entertainment tent, and once it let up a little, we ran for it. I had to work that night, so by the time the sky cleared, I was already in scrubs and heading in to work. Sorry kids, hopefully PG will make up for it.........

Eagle Mountain Pony Express Days

I decided (a little last minute) to take the kids to the Eagle Mountain carnival on Saturday. It's hard to plan any Saturday activities after working a couple night shifts in a row, but I got up feeling good and had plenty of time to spend the day with the kiddos. Here are some pics from our day...

Here they are...ready to conquer the rides :-)

First up, the giant slide, of course.

Bella flying...

First time on this, I was a little nervous but no one got sick.

I had to fight the mama bear instincts on this one, but eventually I let them ride it. They loved it but didn't really feel the need to do it twice.

Face painting...a must. Bella always chooses a cat of sorts.

Nick...some kind of super hero.

Climbing the rock wall

Bella on the swings...

And Nick on the swings...he's in red, and yes...he's wearing socks with crocks. They dress themselves during the summer, that's all I can say.

Bella rang the bell on this boat the whole time she was riding it. Sheesh.

Here are the kids with their winnings...Bella won the water balloon blow up game, Nick won throwing darts. This is what Nick looked like before getting on the "Tornado". I tried to talk him out of it, but he insisted he could handle it. With Bella, I just kept saying "no....no...no..."

Here is the Tornado. Nick got on with a couple other bigger kids and one "adult" man who apparently thinks it's funny to make kids puke. LOL. He made sure their pod kept spinning and spinning like the tea cup ride at Disneyland while also moving in a circle and up and down.

Here is Nick looking like I told him he would right after he got off the Tornado...

And here's Nick a half hour later....he was done. Bella wasn't ready to quit the rides yet, so I let her do one more ride and decided to call it quits. We made it home without any vomiting incidents in the car or anything. Whoo hoo!

A new summer tradition...

Every year the kids and I (and sometimes Mario and my parents) will go to a few local carnivals and parades. It usually includes American Fork, Highland and Pleasant Grove (for the pure, unadulterated pleasure of PG's amazing strawberries and cream...Mmmmmm). I'll admit to being a band geek in high school (hey, I was actually really talented) and to top it all off, I was in the marching band at AFHS for two years. So, I have a thing for going to parades, even though back in the day I was sure parades would be the death of me. My kids love to go to the parades and carnivals, too. They are scary little daredevils, to tell the truth, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that they want to ride the "scary" rides I loved growing up. So I decided to create a new tradition to fully enjoy our summer and get involved in the communities that surround us. The plan is to take them to each of the local city celebrations this summer, even if it's just a day at the carnival, a movie in the park, or a parade. I'm keeping it pretty close to home, and we'll try to go to the State and County Fairs this year, too. Watch for blog posts...I'm writing about our first adventure to Eagle Mountain Pony Express Days later today.
